A digital extension

Besides all the pictures, Jimmy recorded a lot of video material on his journeys. Our task was to create a digital extension of the book and tell the stories behind the pictures.

There is no 'them' and 'us'

Our goal was to make readers of the book feel inspired by and connected to the diverse cultures they see in the pictures. We wanted to provide the insight that we are all human and should celebrate our diversity.

A layered experience

Readers first explore the stories behind the photographs by scanning the pictures and watching the related video content.

Once the reader scanned a certain portion of a chapter and got introduced to a new culture, it is time for a next step in the process of making a connection. A VR video is unlocked. The reader can put on the cardboard VR goggles that come with the book and 'travel' along with Jimmy.

Jasper Bunschoten

Digital product designer

I help companies and individuals to explore, design and strategise their new products and services. My strength lies in bridging the gap between abstract ideas and tangible concepts.

In my work I always aim to explore how things can be fundamentally different from the ways we already know. Deeply understanding the challenge at hand and searching for inspiration in unusual places are important steps in my creative process. When analysing possible solutions, I always consider the impact on our global society and planet as a whole.

Themes I find important are mental- and physical wellbeing & creating connection between people, society and our natural ecosystem.

Besides my passion for design, I like sports, nature, reading, photography, building stuff with my hands and learning new things.
